DeepBlue Theme Released!
A while back, Daniel at DailyBlogTips.com approached me about doing a free theme for him. As an avid reader of his blog, and a friend of his own theme designer, I jumped at the opportunity.
I didn’t want to skimp on this theme either. I wanted to make sure it was a good theme, both in form and function.
The theme features …
- Theme options to integrate with your Feedburner account (much like ElegantBlue)
- Another theme option to let you choose the category you wish to display in the “popular” section of the sidebar. No messing with code either, it’s all handled in the backend (much like NewsPixel).
- Expandable, hoverable rounded tabs for pages. I’ll write a tutorial on this soon.
- Author comment highlighting.
- A HUGE space for ads in the optimal spot, the top of the sidebar! This spot is compatible with adsense AND 125×125 button ads.
- Plus, adsense integration is SUPER easy. All you have to do is paste your adsense code into the ad.php file. You can even do that using the WordPress dashboard too!
- And as always, this baby is SEO optimized.
DeepBlue is one of my favorite free themes I’ve released so far. It has probably one of the best color schemes for a free blog theme in my entire portfolio.
If you’re in the market for a new, very web2.0 WordPress theme, head over to the release page and download the theme.

Comment made on December 4th, 2007 at 7:49 amI am trying to build a site using this excellent theme. However, the tab links to my added pages (About, Subscribe) do not seem to work. Suggestions?
I’m not very tech-savvy, but can follow instructions to edit theme.

When I occasionally use a really LONG tag… it doesn’t wrap.

If it is something I can fix (code ignorant), let me know. I don’t want you to be re-writing anything. I’ll just use shorter tags…

Comment made on December 9th, 2007 at 6:54 amNathan: you theme is great and I am using a heavily moded version for my website but I am stuck on apparently a distracting bug in deep blue that is whenever i try to put a comment with a smiley in this theme comment section it appears above the actual text (not aligned with the text on the line)that looks very weird. How I can correct it. You can check it out on my website to see what I mean. I will greatly appreciate your help.

Comment made on March 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pmHello Nathan,
I’m using you theme in my blog and I wonder if you would mind answer a question about design.
I have zero knowledge about css and maybe you can help me.
It’s posible, in a easy way, make the menu tabs appears in the right top instead in the left top as now? making the “inicio”(home) tab be the closest to the right corner?
Thanks in advance for your help.
