Stripped Theme Released
Stripped is finally here!!! After weeks of on and off development, it’s finally time to release the latest theme in my free WordPress theme gallery.
Stripped is … well … stripped! Stripped of the graphical fluff, stripped of traditional sidebars, stripped of header images, and what’s left is an elegant skeleton that screams “minimalism”! If you’ve been looking for a good minimalist theme with a unique layout, look no further!
This theme is completely free, however if you would like a color other that the basic black, I have developed a few add-on colors that can be downloaded for a small fee (see the below sections for details). UPDATE: I’ve decided to include the alternate color schemes with the default download of Stripped at no cost!

This Theme Features:
- A single column, with 3 sidebars in the footer.
- All 3 sidebars are widgetized.
- WordPress 2.3 compatibility, and backward compatibility for previous versions.
- Tag Cloud Support
- Theme Options that let you integrate your feedburner account information seamlessly!
- 6 Alternate Color Schemes for maximum customization. Just choose your color scheme from within the Theme Options!

Installation
After you have downloaded the theme zip, unpack it and upload the entire Stripped folder to your /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server.
Log into your wordpress dashboard and click on the “Presentation” tab. Look for the Stripped theme in the list of available themes and click the image. This will activate the theme on your site.
Theme Options
I’ve included the option to customize the theme a little by using built in theme options. All you have to do is click on the “Presentation” tab in your WordPress dashboard, and activate Stripped. After it has been activated, you should see a new tab under “Presentation” called “Current Theme Options”. Click this tab. You should see two options below that you need to fill in if you wish to use them.
Feedburner Address:
This is the address you’ve set up in Feedburner to track your feed subscribers. It will look something like this: http://feeds.feedburner.com/nathanricenet where “nathanricenet” is replaced by your unique feed address. Please copy everything into this box, including the “http://”. Once you have done this, click “Save Changes”.
Once this is done, there are several places where the defaul WordPress feed address will be replaced by your feedburner address. In the auto discovery code in the header, and in the menu item labeled “feed” on the right side of the header.
Color Scheme:
This is where you choose one of the 6 alternate color schemes (or the default black) for your theme. Simply drop down the menu and choose the color you wish to use, then click “Save Changes” to activate the color scheme. Alternate color stylesheets are located in the /stripped/colors/ folder if you wish to modify them.
Support
If you have support requests or bug reports, please use the comments of this post to let me know. Also, other users may be able to help you out as well. Harness the power of the community and surely someone will have a suggestion for you. I will certainly be active in the comments if you have any questions or comments.
Credits
I ask that you do keep the author credits in the footer if it’s at all possible. If you need to remove them for some reason, please contact me. Please do not EVER remove the author credits in order to give credit to yourself. That’s just wrong.

I’ve been informed that the name “Stripped” has been used on another WordPress theme in the last few days, and I wanted to let everyone know that I’m aware of this, but have no plans on renaming my theme.
I announced the name of this theme back on December 13th, as well as January 4th.
Since there is no trademarking system on WordPress themes, I have no problem with there being 2 themes in the public with the same name.
Comment made on January 28th, 2008 at 10:59 amI think it’s http://www.upstartblogger.com/wordpress-theme-stripped that you are talking about.
I wasn’t aware of your theme when I named it. It just seemed an obvious name for a theme whose raison d’etre is the removal of anything that isn’t content.

Not a problem. Like I said, it doesn’t bother me. The benefit of extra quality WP themes in the community far outweighs the fact that there are two themes with the same name.
Thanks for leaving the note, though. I appreciate it!
Comment made on January 28th, 2008 at 6:43 pmI totally agree, it’s what we bring to the community that matters. And warmest congratulations on the marriage announcement.

There appears to be a problem when viewing a category. The post data (ie. posted by, date, etc) is placed under the post instead of beside it - see http://demos.nathanrice.net/?cat=3. I’m using IE7.
Comment made on February 3rd, 2008 at 3:49 pmJonathan,
I’ve corrected that issue in the free download, and I’m working on the upgrades. If you have purchased the upgrade, but are having the issue on any of the archives pages, please send me a message and I’ll send you the updated file.

Comment made on February 12th, 2008 at 12:34 pmScratch that … the default theme now includes all the color schemes at no cost! If you’ve already downloaded the default theme, go get the new version and enjoy all the colors!
Comment made on February 13th, 2008 at 3:36 pmNathan, have you had any reports about there being a shift down of the horizontal rule that goes underneath the title of a post? (Starts right under ‘Posted by”?
Check my website to see what I am talking about.

Comment made on February 16th, 2008 at 6:49 pmLet me check on my Mac. Can you send a screenshot?
I know that the purpose of this theme was to be simple, but I would really like to add an image in place of the title, and some of the sidebars. Are there any good guides out there (i’ve tried 2, but neither worked) or can explain to a newb how this is done? Thanks.
Comment made on March 1st, 2008 at 4:22 pmI am noticing the same problem as what Bill said. I am using Firefox 2 on Linux. Otherwise the theme is great!
Comment made on March 13th, 2008 at 8:48 amI like the minimalistic style. Definitely, I will include this theme in my WordPress Themes Gallery. Keep up the good work!
Comment made on April 11th, 2008 at 11:33 amI would have loved to try out your theme, but when I tried to download, I got an error message that the file is missing or that the zip-folder is damaged.
:-(
